Is dry shampoo safe?
The Daily Hair Company’s SELF-ABSORBED Dry Shampoo + Texture Spray contains only ingredients that are considered safe for use in hair products and not harmful to human health. Our special formula is benzene free, talc free, paraben free, sulphate free, SLS free, DMDM Hydantoin free, fragrance free, and non-aerosol.
However, not all dry shampoos are created equally. In late 2022, it was discovered that some of North America’s most popular dry shampoo brands contained benzene, a cancer-causing chemical substance. It turns out we were buying hundreds of millions of dollars a year of dangerous hair products that many of us were using on a daily basis. Many brands recalled products and the media covered the story extensively (we think Time did a good job covering the story, if you want to read up about this.)
After this bombshell news about one of our favourite beauty products, a lot of people have ditched dry shampoo, in fears of the cancer-causing chemicals that were found in so many popular brands. We’ve got good news for all you dry shampoo addicts: there are safe alternatives!
